Was bank fishing at lunch the other day. After being skunked, I walked into the woods to move to a different spot. About 50 feet into the woods, there was a guy leaned up against a tree, hands in pockets, black knit hat, sunglasses. No fishing gear. He gave me a "sup man." I just replied "oh, sorry," turned around and quickly walked back the way I came. All the while checking over my shoulder and a hand on my Esee 4.

Third time I've seen dudes just hanging around. Must be some gay cruising spot because I don't know anyone who just stands in the woods.

I see that on a daily basis at the preserves in Chicago and the ones that border Chicago all along the des plaines.

You were off trail and you only seen one dude? He was probably shooting up. Either that or hes the local prostitute for the fellas. F-ing sick, I know. Friday, I just saw two guys meeting deep in the woods when floating by on the kayak, the one guy dressed in a suit like limo driver, not your typical hiking wear. They both saw me floating by and hightailed it the other way.

If I ever happen to cross something more explicit, I will not hesitate to shout or throw a few swear words to scare em off, that's if I accidentally run into such an event, I do not plan on looking for it that's for sure.

Why do they go to county forest preserves? Why not go to a bar, club, or motel. That's where I take the girls im not too proud of.

Yep. Dam 4 area on the DPR has that going on every day. I don't understand why they do it there either. Unless they just are so cheap they can't get a hotel. I don't even like fishing around there alone. If dude has a gun your screwed. Literally.

A knife may not be the best weapon choice. You're in the woods where he can easily pick up a stick thats bigger than your knife. My advice is to get some good pepper spray. A lot of guys think pepper spray is only for women, but when if saves your life, you'll never leave home without it. Not too sure about IL, but here in FL and GA, we have the "castle doctrine" which is basically a "stand your ground" rule. If someone ever runs up on myself or a family member and tries something crazy then I can guarantee that they'll meet the business end of a Ruger.

I thought the rangers were too busy getting rid of the "forest fruitcakes" and thats why they cant concentrate on creel, liscense etc....... I vote for you guys to direct our posse of fighters at the bucketheads and poachers at C&R lakes!!!
