Salt Creek Kayak Fishing Dupage CO. July 19, 2014

Decided to do a Late Morning to Early afternoon Float along Salt Creek. Lucky for me, The creek is extremely close to launch in. So much so, I don't even need to Haul it with a Vehicle. After my quick Launch, On steep Muddy terrain. I paddled upstream against the light Current.

The Plan was Simple. My Target were Common Carp, Where I do have years of experience in Especially along the Chicago River. I were to Use the simplest of Methods. One rod a SLip-sinker Rig And size 12 Single hook for Corn.(Which didn't play a factor today)And a Single Treble Hook with balled up Wheat Bread on it.

The First Spot Chosen Wasn't exactly a prime spot. And the Multiple Kayaks Surprisingly through the small channel wasn't helping any either. I then come to a tiny Log Jam with a bunch of debri and logs built up appearing un crossable. But after many F's n S's along with a little work I seemed it fit for crossing and went further up creek For potential Holding grounds for a nice Sized Carp.

I get to a Nice deep area And anchor up. I mold my bread onto my hook and dip it into the water. Then I make my cast... Almost instantly I get a Small Carp That after a brief Fight comes unbuttoned. A Few minutes later and 3 feet further up stream I get Smacked While slowly drifting and lifting my bread in the current And the FIGHT WAS ON! This way, And that way. Anchor... Then un anchor this Fish had me on a Ride of a Wonderful Fishing Lifetime! What a Thrill. Thinking ahead and luckily bringing the Net, I finally tire This Common Carp out enough to be able to Net it.

Imagine catching a TugBoat on a Kayak!  These Bigger Carp are phenomenal Yak Side!

After a Few quick Pictures it's Back in for my Friend.

Drifting a little Down Creek and Blind Casting the Deep side of the Banks, Lifting the Bread.. Letting it fall to the Bottom. And repeating. I get a Nice tug! And set the Hook into a Nice Salt Creek Channel CatFish, A Wonderful Surprise and Delight on this wonderful Adventure. :)

This Creek is ALIVE and I'm looking forward to Exploring it multiple Times this Month. My Least Fished Month. July

HAPPY FISHING!

Outstanding George and so close. Fished it a couple times in dead of winter with no luck telling myself I would go back in summer but never did. There has to be some game fish in the holes also but if you have a skill for bottom feeders that is even better considering the fight.

Id join you sometime on a weekday...
