I have some family visiting this weekend, and would like to take my 13 year old nephew fishing in the Fox. So my normal spots where I go wading myself probably aren't too appropriate for a 13 year old with little fishing experience. Too many snags, to shallow, can't reach from shore, etc. He has enough experience fishing that he could probably handle tossing a jig or spinner as long as there weren't too many snags, rocks, and such. So we aren't looking at just bobber fishing or just bottom fishing.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to take a kid fishing from shore between, say, South Elgin and Montgomery? Access is one thing, I realize there are plenty of city and county parks on the river. But actually catching a few fish would be nice. Just because I could easily take him over to Fabyan Park or Island Park in Geneva doesn't necessarily mean those are good spots to catch a few fish. (or maybe they are?)

I'm not super familiar with that part of the river further south, but i'd definitely try island park. Downtown St. Chuck can be good from shore..more so if the river is high. Any of the dams are worth a try from shore unless you're there on a weekend day and there are a ton of people. My kids are a little younger than your nephew, but one thing they absolutely love is wading creeks. Lots of them down that way..depending on what kind of shape they are in that might be a good option.
