Yes, Fog! And lots of it. Today I headed to fish Busse lake in the kayak. Ive been Shore bound for quite some time with the arrival of my new son.
Its always fun when I come back home to busse but this was amazing creepy fogg so fitting for me
Yesturday evening I kinda chuckled prepping for todays outing. Normally 4-6lb test small lures mostly jigs with slow approaches. But were so mild I opted for a 1/2oz jig a smaller two hook road runner and a lucky craft fat cb sb wide action crankbait. Diving depth of three feet. I found a decent 5foot deep stretch that slowly rised to 3ft flat that i could feel w jig. I anchored and started casting it wasnt long when the fish told me what they wanted. The luckycraft few cast in bam! A solid fish. I continued to the tune of 5 landed mostly small guys and 2 misses under the boat. All fish hit headfirst and werent playing. The strikes were fierce the fights werent impressive. Id guesstimate water in the low to mid forties. I was using a 7'2" M baitcasting rod and 30lb powerpro tied to the lucky craft.
Even in the harshes of winters i dont use live bait. But i havent had fun in december usin summer like crankin outside of the chi river since the mild 2006 winter. So cant beat it
So get up, Get out and go cast a few lures!!
