this might be a dumb question but i dont have a boat YET... But we rent boats a lot and i have somewhat off a bad back due to a rugby injury. After a whole day of fishing at deep lake or whereever we get boats from my back is killing me.

I need to find a boat seat, are there such things as portable boat seats, or would any random, boat seat u can buy at BPS fit.

Let me know

Thanks
Dom

There are clamp on seats that aren't bad...

But check a canoe online source.
They make flexible back support seats that can be placed anywhere.
I had one for an old boat but don't remember the brand.

like you, fishing long hours on a bench seat will send me back to shore!

Buy a wise regular boat seat for $29.94 on sale @ BPS they are a great seat for the price

and then a John Boat Clamp Mount For $25.99 and you'll be good to go

I replaced all 5 of my boats seats with Wise seats and I am very happy with them.
I am using my old seats for my Shanties for Ice Fishing This Year, Nothing worse than sitting on a 5 gallon bucket for 8-10 hours, totally brutal on the Back.

Hope this helps you out.

Yeah nut. The ones Sean and I got a few years ago are great. They sell the base at Bass Pro, Walmart, Cabelas, etc... It is a thick plastic base part, with two formed steel bars that clamp around the boats bench seat. They work with any bench type seat. The base was 14.99 if I remember correctly. I think it may be cheaper at Wlamart. Then you need a swivel plate (about $5.99) and a seat (anywhere from $10 up. Bass Pro has a great assortment of different seats. We went before Christmas a couple years ago and got some nice comfortable ones for $15 each, so I suggest checking it out now. Boat stuff will probably be on off season sale.
I will try and find a picture of them. Its great cruising around Deep lake with the fastest, AND most comfortable boat.

Sean and Rudy have the comfy seat setup :D

I was going to try a portble decking for the front
of the deep lake boat this year with a small seat 8)

Here's a good pic of the seat at the Goons. As you can see it clamps onto any boat bench.

Here's another shot, same seat, different boat. Works Great!

Have you looked into the folding stadium style seats? They might be an option.
Cabelas has a few models.Look under canoe/kayak accessories to get an idea, but I've seen them at Wally world and such. They have straps that go under bench style seats and have a backrest to give back support. I have the same problem when sitting in my shanty so I took some beach seats(the kind that sit about 2" off of the sand cut off the leg parts and just used the backrest part and used U-clamps to mount them to the bench seat in my Fish trap 2.)
