Hit Bangs this morning with steady action all day long. only about 3 other guys out fishing in the distance.
I started off at about 8:45am in 8' FOW. Then slowly worked my way out until I found some crappies in 11-13' FOW. The action was not heavy, but consistent with about 20-25 crappies during the sun "wich was suprising" I really had to work for them. There were many sniffers and lookers. When I would try to get them to chase it up and hit my jig, They would shoot right off the graph or towards the bottom again. The crappies averaged from 8-9.5 inches, Measured on my laddel. I caught many bluegills along with about 5 or 6 pumpkin seeds. Also ofcourse the usuale Perch. The funny thing was that Wauconda Boat Marine was not open as stated on the door at 8:00am. So I was stuck without Roaches for the day. I put a 6 inch perch on 1 tip-up and about an 8 inch perch on another. The tip-up with the 6 inch perch went off within a half hour of setting it. I felt the fish and missed him as I think the fish did not have a good hold of the perch. I should have waited a little longer and let him run more... But within an hour later. the tip-up with my 8 inch perch went off. I hit the pike after he stripped about 30 yards of line off my tip-up. He came in so easy, The Hammer Handle Pike just pissed me off more than anything. I was wishing for a big boy. But the Ice is good and I will have to see what the Chain and Delavan has for me this weekend...
BTW, all the Crappies came on Mousies, the gills would take Mousies and spikes. But the crappies did not want any spikes...
Heres a Few Pics that I took a fast snap of... I think this Pike is one fo the smallest I have ever caught. and suprisingly he was on a 8 inch perch... :x I got really excited when I saw that flag go up!
