Me and some of the guys spent the night on a northern wisconsin river. Water was high, fast, and cold for mid July, but I'd take that any day over sitting under the flight paths at O'Hare that I call home.

The trip was not for the weak, 25 free flowing river miles encompassing over a dozen sets of rapids, half of which were class 3. And yet everyone made it through, only two guys were tossed from there kayaks, not losing much or hurting anything because we were all prepared for the worst. All though I had been through these rapids before, this was my first time in a sit on top fishing kayak and even I was surprised with what we all accomplished. Im sure everyone has a new found respect and confidence in their kayak and kayaking abilities after the trip.

As for the fishing, although we all had our hearts broken once or twice, plenty of fish were caught, and eaten lol.

Congratulations to Adam (HnG) on a river walleye of a lifetime! (Released)

Awesome trip and scenery! That walleye is a tank, 29"? Looks like you have some smallies on the table, I've never had them before, how did they taste?

You guys did 25 miles in one day or did you camp overnight? I've done 11 miles before with 8 hours of heavy fishing, I can't imagine doing 25 miles in one day unless I was booking through, still that's a long trip.

Very cool!

Great looking trip. Those waters look pretty challenging and that campsite looks perfect. That walleye makes me speechless. Congrats HnG!

Catchafew, that was about 10 hrs day 1 and about 8hrs day two. Like I said flow was up.

Something to think about for you kayakers. 2 days in the wilderness, July heat with 30 degree fluctuations at night, no road access or cell service. What do you bring with? And don't forget, it all has to fit on your kayak. And if you're an experienced kayaker, you know the more weight you add the more unstable your ride becomes, and did I mention there's a shit load of rapids?

Im sure HnG will chime in about the walleye. I believe it was 10lbs, built like an urban carp.

Also we ran into DNR on back to back days. They were travelling by canoe and one time appeared to be having problems getting a radio signal. They couldn't have been more than 25 years old a piece. I almost wanted to offer them help

Thanks all, that walleye was a blast to land . It was sitting behind a vw bug size boulder in maybe 6' fow in the nasty of rapids. The eye was not even close to 30. It was 24 1/4" @ 9lb 11oz.
Yeah those first pics are hard to judge because of how it was being held. Could just tell it was big and fat. The second group of pics gives a better perspective on it. A 24" fish pushing 10lbs.... that's a big fatty. Congrats! So dark. Haven't seen many that dark! Very cool.
