I have a standard Stradic as well. I have fished it for at least 10 years without an issue. I tried some of the less expensive Shimano reels but they don't compare.

On a side note 2 years ago I purchased a $90 Penn Battle II. I have used it at least twice a week since even in the winter and it has been flawless.

Well ended up with another new combo. Shimano Stradic C14+ and St Croix Legend Tournament TBS71MF 7'1" M power Fast action Plastics rod. Also got a new little tackle bag and some new baits. Bass gear is coming around nicely. Next on the list is some waders.
I have that same rod paired with a patriarch, I love it. A buddy had the exact same set up as you with the ci4+. It now resides at the bottom of a lake. After I fished it out for him once with snorkel gear. Ouch.

I also have the casting version of the plastics rod. apetersen traded Bassman29's broken rod in to St. Croix for it and then sod it to me used. Its basically the town skank of WCF fishing rods. Got my best bass of the year on it Saturday.

I'll get a pic for you. I don't like the colors of the legend elite or extremes. Lol. They are fantastic rods by all means but for the price difference I'm not convinced they are that much better then the LTs.
The Legend Glass rods are a separate line they just came out with, same price point as legend tournament, and they have a kind of vintage look to them, in orange (I agree the elite and extreme are ugly). I'm trying to decide between a moderate action LTB or Legend Glass for cranking.

A number of you guys have some serious GAS issues now I don't feel as bad. go buy the wifey some new camphalon pots and pans set instead.
Haha, I was literally ring shopping and trying to set up an opportunity to ask my ex's dad to marry her when I found out she had been staying late at work to screw one of the executives. I have since acquired a small plastic bass boat and trolling motor, two high end combos for bass, a decent muskie rod and box of muskie lures, and have become addicted to tungsten bottom contact baits. Still have half the ring money left. And last week I pulled the trigger on a 40 dollar crock pot. Figured as much time as I'm spending on the water lately I'll need to learn to feed myself, lol.

Buy high end fishing gear new and shop at salvation army and goodwill stores for clothing and other needs and you will be fine. That forty follar crock pot is 5 dollars at goodwill and that 35 dollars you saved will get you 4 bags of keitech plastics

Ski's spot on. I remember an interview of Ted Williams years ago. He said "Nobody who knows what they're doing buys $30 shirts (this was when $30 was serious money) at Orvis to go hunting, fishing or camping. I buy my outdoors clothing at Sears." Sears sold relly good, cheap stuff back then.

Wise words. I'm in the city and take the el to work and most other places, so for a car I keep old beater Honda parked 3 blocks away for free and use it basically for fishing trips or visiting family in the weekend. Saves an appreciable chunk of dough each month. As far as the crockpot my mom offered me an old one but I went for the one I did because it has an automatic shut off, and I am a guy who once put a breakfast burrito in a 425 degree oven and proceeded to drive off and play 18 holes of golf before I remembered to take it out. Set it and forget it, as Ron Popeil used to say.

I have been wanting to try those keitech swing impact paddletails. I have only really used the reaction strike fathead juniors and they are okay but nothing to compare to yet.

I lost my frickin' spool of leader line this weekend! And the funny thing is that I didn't make a long, fast run for it to blow out of the boat. I don't know how it went overboard. It pretty much ended my morning since I was fishing on the Lake and all my reels have braid.

So an order to TW was needed. Bought some Abrazx for leaders, a few blade baits for the rest of the open water season, and an A-rig for a Nov trip to So IL. I thought I could hold off to the Black Friday sale and that was 2 purchases ago.
