Urban Bass Report Feb 27 2017

Fished a few ponds close by for 4 hours, also brought and met up with my supervisor at work at a couple. Air temps 52, water temps 45, 24" clarity, SSW winds 10-20 mph, sunny. Threw a 5" watermelon twister on a 3/16 keeperhook, and later a chatterbait. 2 largemouth, 18"-23+". Monster bass. Giant freak. Barely could get the bass in the photo, or hold it up. Probably over/near/around/tie my P.B. 8lbs.

All I know is, it was really large. Florida large. Had two bites. The other bass is a nice bass but is just dwarfed.

Bite was slower at a couple ponds, but one pond had bass on a reaction bite, even though the water was 45. Best areas had a mix of rock and weeds that was about 3-5ft deep and wind blown. My supervisor caught a few, with a couple at 17"-18"+ on a black/blue spinnerbait and chatterbait. They were sitting off shore on something. No idea what.

The past 2 winters my wife and I stayed in Panama City Beach. It's not known for bass fishing but I managed to catch a few good ones.

Panama City Beach is in Northern Florida and that part of the state is well known for trophy bass. This year alone a lady caught a 15 pound bass from a kayak in Northern Florida, and others have caught +10 pounders from this part of this state. South Florida is less known for +10 pounders than North/Central Florida, but some people like myself catch them every once in a while in the Southern portion of the state.
