My news years fishing resolution was to record one fishing video clip each month this year. This comes after years of watching great videos on WCF from guys like RonG, ChiCityYaker, Fishsleeprepeat, ohoffman, etc.. Just a short, cut down 30 second video of some ice action to start the year. I hope to improve on my video creating as the year goes on.

Awesome, show the fish to the camera next time!

Nice! I assume you've seen the Uncut Angling where they catch one during spawn and end up with a fish-bukake video.

Also congrats on the Sun Times write-up, Aux!!

Nicely done Aux

Btw, I've read several reports on various sites and the are saying "The fishing should pick up with the warmer weather" They're discussing ice fishing. Why would a warm front effect fish under 10''s of ice? Is it more the barometric pressure? I don't understand it

I really don't know. I know ice fishermen really like talking about sunlight more than temperature. Snow cover or ice clarity is another biggy. But man I know so little about ice fishing, some winters you only get out 2 or 3 times before ice is just terrible. On a good year I get out 15-20 times, spread that over 4 or 5 bodies of water and you can see why trying hone in real patterns is a pain for a weekend ice fisherman like myself. Heck I fish open water on the river more in winter than I ice fish.

I think it's pressure related, but I don't really know. I do know this. I was out on the ice Thursday last week with the 55 degree temps. Fishing was phenomenal. I went out on Sunday, three days later, after two nights of 0 degrees, and a high of like 19 for Sunday. Fishing was awful. I'll be back out tomorrow with the 40+ degree temps. I'll let you know how we do.

However, I will say I've always done better with cloudy weather on the ice rather than bluebird skies and sun. I've had both good and bad days with and without snowcover.

I have no idea, though, honestly. I just go out on the ice, and if I catch fish, I catch fish. If I don't, I don't. I don't go into a day of ice fishing expecting to catch anything, as it's such a crazy time of year to be fishing. It's just fun to be out walking around on frozen lakes that normally you'd be floating around in a boat to fish. The catching is a bonus.

I'll try to add more fish porn next time. Thanks fellas for the input. Just don't expect me to narrate the whole video like ChiCityYaker. :D
By the end of 2018-

Changes name to "AuxVlogs", 100,000 subs on Youtube, A Mystery Tackle Box Sponsorship, most videos titled things like "PREHISTORIC MONSTER Caught on UNSAFE ICE"

Wind. Every time I go out and the wind is cranking it seems I catch less fish but I think it has more to do with barometric pressure. Idfk, ive always tried to keep a log book on weather and pressure with fishing and hunting but always seem to fail.

For 2017 I kept a log of every catch. Weather wise I only tracked the time and temp (I can figure out where the sun was by a solar calendar). Zero consistency lol. I'd catch a bass in open water clear skies on a 90 degree day, but not on an overcast 70 degree day in the same spot. Just proves that the fish make the rules.
