NHL Playoffs Giveaway

Hey everyone.

My San Jose Sharks are in the playoffs once again, and for the first time in nearly a decade the Blackhawks are not. As a way to attempt to keep you guys (or get you guys) interested in the NHL Playoffs and to thank everyone for their advice over the last year, I decided to put together a league on NHL.com Bracket Challenge. At the end, I'll buy the winner a Teckel or Spro Frog, winners choice. Stanley Cup isn't awarded until mid June so it'll come right in time for the frog bite!

I just created the league, but it looks like I can't share it just yet (the bracket is still forming, may not be ready til Sunday). The league is under Windy City Fishing Freaks and the password is wcf2018. I'll post a link to this thread once it becomes available.

I'll definitely get in. The NHL Playoffs are my favorite sporting event of the year and hockey is easily my favorite sport. The Eastern Conference is going to have some great playoff matchups. Pittsburgh vs Columbus, Toronto vs Boston/Tampa, and even Washington vs Philly should all be very entertaining. Plus, I love those 6 PM starts. The West doesn't really excite me until Nashville plays Winnipeg in the 2nd round.

The Sharks huh? I've had Burns and Thornton on a dynasty team for a number of years so I am always monitoring them. Tierney has been a nice surprise for me this year.

Tierney is on a contract year :wink: dudes gonna get paid. Solid as it gets 3rd liner.
Burns is gonna be productive for a bulk of his career. A younger Erik Karlsson.
I'm obviously excited for the Sharks series. Nashville is crazy good and I won't be upset if they win. Vegas has already begun to peter out, I don't doubt they get ousted round 1. If they and the Sharks play round 2, we're screwed as they've had our number all season.
I want to be more excited about the East, but I'm not. A lot of good teams there, I just really don't like the east :lol:

Sounds fun! Love hockey and playoff hockey. Sadly, I have given-up most of my viewing when I cancelled my cable over a year ago. I would totally be down to purchase the NHL app and watch, expect they black out Hawk's games, making it kinda pointless for me. Either way, if you'll have me, I'd be happy to join in the bracket challenge just for the fun of it.

I don't care if your gf just picks the cutest mascots lol the more the merrier.

Btw, I have the NHL TV app and found if you GPS spoof your phone to be in Mexico you can watch all the games you want :lol:

I just signed up and no my wife won't be doing the picking lol. Playoffs are around the corner now!

Yea, I could set a proxy server for a different IP address and do it that way, but my end game is to really have it on the TV (NHL smart TV app). In the end, I'm too lazy to do that work and will just settle for emails to NHL asking them to rescind their policy, which I'm sure is tied to TV contracts, etc. Maybe one day 8)

I mostly watch it on my PS4 when I'm at home, believe me watching on the phone is the last resort. My cable doesn't have the NHL Network so the one game early this year (Sharks v. Caps) that ended up on there I GPS spoofed that I was in Mexico, streamed it on my phone then paired my phone to my TV. Quality suffers a tad but its better than not watching the game :thumbup:

Playoffs start next Wednesday. With Florida winning yesterday, that could make the only game Sunday (Bruins v. Panthers) actually matter. Sucks, though, because it gives everyone one less day to sign up.

I'm a little disappointed in the lack of interest here! Free Lure to play a free game folks!

I am not surprised. Not many people like hockey. You have a bunch of people around Chicago that watch the Hawks when they are in the playoffs but they are not hockey fans. Makes no difference to me. Playoff hockey is fantastic.

I'm old, I'm bitter, I love hockey... Except- There is not one team going in to the playoffs that I'm interested in, nor can cheer for.

Let's get the last two painful Hawks games over with and move on. I'll be over in the corner pouting until next season.

Bumping this to get folks interested. Bracket should be out later today as all teams are now locked. If more people would be interested if I change the prize choices to a Megabass Popmax, Spro Frog, or Teckel frog I'll do it! So far there are 3 signed up (1 is me) and one person does not have a name entered. Sign up and win!

Yeah I see 4 now, 2 without names. Don't know when you'll be able to put together your bracket, though. Guessing once it gets there, there should be a way to change that. I'm sure it'll show e-mails and such too.
