Went to Salt Creek Tuesday afternoon between the storms.

In a recent post on the DuPage thread I mentioned that I seem to be fated to catching only 1 fish per outing with the exception of Salt Creek. So just to choose me up the gods of fishing made it so I caught 1 - count them - 1 6" bass. Caught it on a red & white tube jig with a safety pin spinner.

I was in sort of a hurry when I got there - didn't know how much time I had. So after tying on the jig I clipped the line instead of the tag! Told myself what a stupid bastard I am & then remembered a John Husar column about one of his many fishing trips with Spence Petros (google him if you don't know the name) during which Petros did the same thing. He didn't realize he'd clipped the line until he casted! Figured whatever is good enough for Spence Petros is good enough for me.

You have the curse I had last year! I can't count how many outings I had with a 1 fish catch.

You ain't kidding. The skies looked pretty ominous all day. It kept me off the water completely. Went to a friends house instead and had a few brews and right when I headed home, kablam

You pissed the Fishing Gods off and you must make them laugh to break the curse. Cutting off the main line they won't even blink an eye. Try hanging one up in a tree on a bad cast and work to get it back( that always makes them laugh). Before you ask, yes that worked for me.

Telephoto lens. Believe me, when I see a laughing guy with a hatchet wearing a onesy in an urban area, I keep my distance.

Ha Rambler I'll do you one better. I tied on a new snap swivel on my line
Rambler's got way more snaps than you. Just look at all of them on the backdoor of that onesy.
