Old saying if it seems to good to be true it probably is. I've noticed quite a few of these sites around. Did a quick YouTube search and found nothing. Usually cheap company's will give some of their stuff to some youtubers to review and I didn't find any.

Break the whole ad down word by word it's crap reel or just go to ebay it's full of them different brands even cheaper on par with China cranks with that great looking finish but they come in sideways I bought 10 new hot a hundred bucks once threw them out

Not to say that inexpensive reels cannot be a good value but I am a firm believer that you won't be disappointed if you stick with one of the big 3 (Shimano, Daiwa, Abu) at the price point you want. I only have Daiwa reels and none of them have ever let me down nor have any of the Shimanos I had in the past. The only reel that was a poor purchase was a BPS Qualifier.

I would add Pflueger to that list of reliable reels. I personally think in terms of lower end spinning reels that Pflueger > Shimano, both better than BPS. For higher end spinning reels, I've had Pflueger and Daiwa, mainly Pflueger and both have been good. For baitcasting reels, I've only had Daiwa and BPS and the BPS one was very mediocre by comparison. My Daiwa baitcasters have higher list price but I got them for much larger discount than BPS reel so cost was similar.

Love my Pflueger President spinning reels. Have them on 4 different spinning setups now.

Hate my Shimano reels. Problems with 3 of 4, and none are on rods anymore. All were $75-$100 and all have issues. Not a single issue with any of the Presidents yet.

^^^^ Some of my Shimano reels were prone to binding if they got wet. I replaced them with Shimano Stradics CI4 reels. Not a problem since. That includes rinsing them after use in the salt. They are 3 years old now and that is with 200 days a year of use.

You would think that a fishing reel could get wet and still function. Maybe Shimano figured it out by now.

I have only heard good things about Pflueger reels especially the President.

X2. I have several Pflueger spinning reels. Only one that has given me a problem is a Summit & it's not a major one. Presidents are outstanding.

I have had a patriarch for years, Saturday I used the president I picked up during the bps trade in event for the first time. I was switching back and forth between the patriarch and president all day long. To be honest, I cant tell the difference. That being said, don't think I'll dish out 200 again on a spinning reel.

As far as bait casters, I used to buy Abu a lot. At one time I had 7 of them. They all gave out quickly and constantly needed repair, especially the STX models and the revo Toro winch. Unloaded 5 Abu's, all broken to a buyer on Instagram.

I cant say enough about how well my diawa reels have held up compared to my Abu's under the same conditions and time.

Recently purchased a Lew's reel. I plan on throwing it through the ringer this season to see how well it holds up.

I've standardized on the Pflueger Supreme for spinning reels. It lists for 99% but easier to find cheaper because it is usually coupon or storewide discount eligible (unlike Diawa).

It is a great reel and a definite upgrade from the already respectable President. The Supreme has sealed bearings and is salt water rated which I like for wading applications where reels sometimes end up taking a full on dunk in the water.

On a related note, I bought 4 Plueger monarch ice reels in the fall for $25 each as part of a replacement for combos I lost last season and really liked them. They were solid, light enough, had good drag when required, seemed to minimize line twist.

Some people will say what reel you have doesn't matter when ice fishing and I think there is some truth to that but every once in a while you hook into a big game fish while pan fishing and when I do it is worth getting at least a decent reel to maximize your chances in that fight. Fighting a big pike or bass on a pan fish ice rod is one of the most fun things you can do in fishing.
