Mike, Nick and I got together Sunday and did some pond hopping. We caught fish at every stop, though Nick had Easter plans with the Family and couldn't make it to pond #4. The first two were ponds Nick was aware of and the 2nd one has the potential for some giants. Mike hooked into a beast that broke him off in cattail stalks. I got one 3.8 and another at 2.12 on a swim jig. As soon as we pulled up on it, I got excited about it. Over 80% of it is exceptionally hard to navigate from shore, requires wading to get casting angles around all the cattails stalks and only the most weedless lures will work effectively. I'm calling it "Swim Jig City" but regular jigs, frogs and weedless swimbaits would work.

Stop 3 was a place I've wanted to fish for some time and its a definitely a lake and not a pond. Big sucker with lots of ground to cover. Nick stuck his on a Strike King Thunder Cricket (pretty sure) and I got mine on a 1/2oz Red Eye Shad. I think this one has lots of potential and I'll be back. Shockingly we were the only ones fishing it, though there were tons of people out walking on the paths.

Stop 4 This is one Mike has fished and has recommended I try out. He also said I didn't need waders or risked getting kicked out for wading (by who? lol) I will fish it again...with waders, so I can fish the 50% not accessible to 100% of the non-wading public. I caught a little bitty one flipping a jig into brush and Mike stayed a little later, got 4 bass and his new PB Crappie!!

Thanks for putting up the report man! At lake #3 mine all came on a 3/8oz green pumpkin shad Jack. I changed the thunder cricket up at swim jig city for a swim jig, actually. Lol. Was good to see you again man. And nice to meet you Mike. We'll have to do it again soon.

I'll definitely be putting some more time in at swim jig city, though.

It was nice meeting you Nick. I think I'm going to quit bass fishing and chase my big crappie dreams
Go for bull gills on light tackle, at least they fight. Have never understood the appeal of fishing for crappies other than they're tasty...even as a little kid.

Wtf, I'm sitting in my car and a blizzard just started

They're typically challenging to catch, with the exception of pre-spawn in spring. And they're damn fun when you land on em, and the bite is hot. They're like white bass in that regard. When you get on a hot bite with them, it's fish after fish after fish, every single cast. Just non-stop action. And of course, they do taste damn good.
