Lemont is my go to place to put the kayak in. Very large bass are in there. That park they're building has changed it drastically already and once it opens, with easier access, more parking, etc. it's going to be ruined as a home for big bass.

Awesome catches. Which quarry do you fish on? I took the kayak all the way back on the smaller 3 inter-connected ponds but I've only shore-fished the larger, first quarry. The one with the high rock walls.
I'm there all the time. I fish the 3 inter connected you talk about. Look for the guy in the Bonafide with the blaze orange baseball hat. That's me. Come say hi.

I'll keep an eye out. I plan on getting out there more before that zipline park goes up

Me too. Once that opens, which now may not even be this summer with the virus, I won't go there much.
You guys know the park isn't even on the same side of the canal as most the lakes there, right?

Correct.....but they have started on the large parking lot right by the launch, add easier access to the quarries, more people going there. More people deciding it's a nice place to kayak, more people fishing. As it was I tended to avoid it on weekends. Hey, it's not my property so I'm glad I got to enjoy it while I could. The park being on the other side will still have a large impact on the entire area. I'm betting the people living in the homes just west of the quarries aren't too thrilled. Although I doubt the park will even come close to the numbers they've projected.

I fish the first quarry. Consumers quarry. Little rough getting a watercraft in there but it's loaded with hogs.
I was at the other quarry this morning but talked to a guy about that exact same thing. I don't think I could get my kayak in there by myself. Unless I strip it down to the bare minimum.

Went the first time there this year since the sag down the road is still closed. The biggest change I noticed is they blocked the openings with huge boulders where you could drive and park up by the first quarry and added a mulch path to hike even though everyone walks on the main gravel road. So that was pointless. I fished the far quarry at the end parking lot. Seen tons swimming shallow looking to start beds. Caught 3 large mouth that were not on beds yet near drop offs. No hogs like wiktor but I will take it over a skunk. Seen zero bluegill shallow. It was very crowded with hikers and people fishing near the parking spots at the first quarry. Only ran into one family fishing the north side of the far quarry. Way more hikers than people fishing though. The long walk was worth getting away from the crowds.
