Got out with the family twice on the canoe on the DPR. Even had the wife fishing for the first time on the dpr. Usually she just rides along. She caught 2 pike with a stick bait. Also got out with my man-wife Griefmop . The plan was to chase largemouth so he could get on more action with the fly rod. The "fall" bite for bass isn't quite there yet. Last couple of years the females were biting hard into December so we got time. I did get 14 bass and brute northern pike. Griefmop got a handful of bass with the fly rod which in my opinion is the most obnoxious way to fish there is . What an unrelaxing, pain in the ass that must be for you guys that do it   .

Now that is a pike!
Sure is! From what I'm seeing near me the thing would have to get out and portage. Going over the river on Central near Oakton CC you need to slow down for construction. which gives time for a better look. I can't recall ever seeing the huge swatches of river bottom exposed like I have these past few weeks yet the nearby gage shows 8ft.

Very nice as usual Aux. The boy looks hangry, you should carry some Snickers for him so he doesn't have to chomp on a hammer handle.

Its coming. Ill be going up north next week to sit in a boat for 10hrs a day and not catch anything (musky fishing). When i get back will definitely hunt big larrys on the kayak before I settle into my winter pike from shore routine.

Dang, nice fish Aux! If I needed any further convincing to start fishing the DPR this is it! And to think I used to pretty much give up on fishing by October. The more you know...
