Due to a toxic fire in Morris il the horizon at Heidecke Lake is vertical, I swear it is true.Water temp 77 to 79 ,clarity good, lake height maybe a little down, but not much, noticed weed growth out to 5 to 6 ft off the shore.Hit the north side ,three of us over there two of us trolling ,the other fool trolling runs over my lines ,two flicker shads that I bought yesterday gone, fishermen are worse than pleasure boators, action for first three hours insane, hybrids, yellows, crappies ,drum ,trolling flicker shads, lot of fish small, but also some huge crappie, yellows, some hybrids 15 to 17 in,they hit so hard they turned my pole holders.Time to leave Loon Lake and the Chain for a while ,going to pound big the Big H.I ran the flicker shads 110 ft behind the boat between 18 to 14 ft deep up and down the north side

A boat , it's a perched lake so the wind goes a long way out there,a kayak is not a good idea there, today I was bouncing around, but their is miles of rock shoreline to walk and fish, lot of smallmouth.

what speeds were you running? Trolling I can never seem to get fast action, just one here or there. Mostly Drum and Walleye and the occasionally mammoth crappie. I may try some crawler harnesses this weekend. Never really did that before but might as well give it a shot.

Trolling speeds, .4 to. 6 mph always under 1mph, funny the hybrids would be busting the surface,I would stop and cast ,nothing, had to troll to get them,at the lower speeds I would get crappie,no excuses on that picture, I suck using a cell phone

Yea, I was set up for crawler harnesses, but never had a chance, had a hard time with two poles, trolling the flicker shads, but once it was over ,it was over,I figure once the hybrids feed they move off to suspend over deep water ,wonit hit a moving bait, will be rigged next week for that with jigging spoons ,and chicken liver, and cut shad, hybrids when even full like chicken livers.

Thanks for the report. I wish I could get my boat under the bridge. I have some great memories there from my first boat. Trolling up big walleyes, hybrids, and crappies. For all the pressure, it really is a top notch fishery. I really should get back out there as I am sure it is a matter of time before we are scheduled for an IHSA Tourney down there.
