Got out after work again today from 3pm until 4:30 pm. Startetd off promising as I landed a 9" LM on my second cast with a blk senko. Switched to both blk w/gld flk, chart tip and grn pmpkin, blk flk over the next hour. Long story short, I missed about 8 hits after the bass I landed right out of the shoot. It didn't matter what color senko I had on they were all getting hit. All very very shy bites, was trying to let the fish get ahold of the senko before I set the hook but there was a lot of bump and running goin on. When the bite is like this am I supposed to hope the fish hits again or should I just be setting a quick hook as soon as I feel the strike?

By the way, temps about 86 degrees, partly cloudy skies, and a light south/southwest wind  . Thanks for helping me out on that one guys.

i've caught many bass that i missed on the first hit. just drop the lure right at the spot the fish popped off and you can usually get them to take a second time.

also, when this happens, downsize. sometimes that helps.

I agree with Augy, I think down-sizing would probably be the best. There's a chance that the fish hitting your senkos were small bass or even brave bluegills holding onto the bottom 1/2 of your bait? I had that problem fishing my 5" dingers at Deep lake earlier this morning, I'd actually see the 6-7" bass swallowing as much as possible from the lower half and running with it but they never hit the bait above the hook where I couldda hooked em.

I've experienced this a lot siwth learning senkos at Opeka. Today in fact. I've noticed that if you miss a bit, twitch the senko a little and let it fall, do this a couple of time even if you know the senko to have slipped from position. I've gotten a repeat hit often doing this. I may still have missed but got another chance at her anyway.
