I've experienced this a lot siwth learning senkos at Opeka. Today in fact. I've noticed that if you miss a bit, twitch the senko a little and let it fall, do this a couple of time even if you know the senko to have slipped from position. I've gotten a repeat hit often doing this. I may still have missed but got another chance at her anyway.
