I'll be heading to IG this weekend and have no idea on where to go/what to use. Please help! Thanks.

Phil,

Bring the "basics" with you. Some crawlers might be a good idea too. Expect a lot of pressure and recreation on the weekends and you'll pay if you don't live in Lake County.

Once you get there, you'll be able to figure out what to do. No "big" secrets. You'll find some nice weed beds, timber, etc. The water can be pretty clear so keep that in mind.
I heard live bait works well there. What would be the best all around live bait where I can catch both bass and a possible nothern with?
Crawlers and roaches would be my choice.
Never fished with roaches. What size would be best and how would I set it up? Thanks.

Phil
I'd go with medium roaches and hook them behind the dorsal fin. Try freelining them (no weight, just hook and minnow).
Never freelined before...do you just cast it out and let it sink? Oh, I'm guessing to use like a size 8 hook? Thanks for all the help.

Phil
Fling it out there and coerce it through structure.
Reply try a size 2 or 4 hook. I mouth hook em but thats just me. Give a tug every now and then to keep em off the bottom.
I would get the extra large Chicago roaches.
