Got out from about noon until dark today. Heavy west winds. Got a water temp of 42.2 which is about a two degree drop since my last time out, 3/11. Zero crappie. Zero. I could not find them anywhere. One bass on the windblown shoreline. All the other fish were downwind of a windblown point. Could only get bit on a suspending jerkbait with about a five second pause. Hot bite, got about 25 bass. 90% of the fish never moved after eating the bait so you would only feel them when you went to work the bait again. I've been using braid to fluoro recently for jerkbaits and just watching the braid move to know when I had a fish. Best went 4.26lbs and lost another big one later on. Just saw that big white belly swimming sideways at the surface and she pulled free. Mostly small males again, but females continue to show up in more numbers.

Good for you. So far I've been struggling trying to connect in any consistent way.

Nice work. I’m going to try using a suspended jerk bait on my next white bass outing. Break up the monotony of cast, reel, cast.

Most of my outings, the first solid hour is nothing. I have to rotate through a couple different baits or retrieves in the right places to get on them. That outing was outlier, haven't had a whack fest like that on public water in a long time. Was just a whack fest with the right bait and the right place at the right time. You almost have to fish like you know they're there, you just have to convince them to eat. Something similar happened today to me with a small jig and craw.

If you're on 'em, it will be a whack fest. Sure beats slow dragging a big jig or slow rolling a do-nothing, spybait in order to locate fish. Ask me how I know lol.

My last outing I hit a 2-pounder on the first cast. And then it was nothing.
