Congratulations to the top 4 teams that will be advancing to the state finals. As happens at just about every tournament, somebody will figure it out. The son had a wicked tough day out there but finally pulled out the drop shot rod and beat the skunk and finish 9th. I was proud of him for grinding it out on a day that had 5 teams blanking. Everyone said their pre-fishing plans went out the window with the lower water and much higher weed growth.
I talked to the top 4 teams after the weigh-in and all 4 caught the majority of their fish on jigs (Aux?!) Mostly green pumpkin football heads but the winning team was using a black/blue football jig near the dam on rocks. It was West Chicago's first tournament for both anglers...I told them I liked their stoner hacky-sac look, they liked that, lol they also caught one of their fish on a chartreuse 5" senko, go figure. The 2nd place team brought the only 5 fish limit in. Big fish was 3lbs 10ozs
