I made my first foray to Falls Lake. It's a 12,000 acre reservoir. I don't know what the shoreline mileage total is ,but none of it is developed.
I'm still fishing blind with no electronics and with the size of this water I felt like a needle in a haystack. The shoreline looked to be flooded but it's hard for me to tell because I don't have any prior knowledge as to what it looks like. I'm just assuming it's flooded because there has been a good amount of rain and there are a ton of full grown mature trees and bushes that look like they should be on dry ground.
So I fished the shoreline cover with a variety of presentations. I only caught 3 fish. 2 were small white bass, I think that's what they were ,and one largemouth. Jig/twister, J11 Rapala and swim jig with a Keitech trailer is what worked. I also lost 2 more fish on the swim jig because of a rookie mistake. Dull hooks. Stupid me.
I'm headed back out tomorrow to the same lake but I'm going to fish a paddle only area. Looks to be more protected, shallower and no $35,000 bass boats zooming by.
