I tried Beck Lake today for the first time. I had never even heard of this lake until I came onto this site. Once again this site lead me to a great place just like it did for Lake Arlington. I got out of work early and fished from 3:15 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. under cloudy skies, but it never rained (luckily). I caught 6 bluegills (mostly in the 5" range) on nightcrawlers and 3 largemouth on plastic worms. Two of the largemouth were about 5", but the other one was one of the biggest fish I have ever caught. It probably wouldn't be considered all that large by what I have seen everyone else on this site catch, but it was 14" and represented the first fish I have ever caught on a plastic worm. I was using a texas rigged, unweighted Kinami Flash Worm in green pumpkinseed color. Not the biggest fish ever, but it gave me a thrill and made my weekend. I have included the photo below so that I have proof of my catch. Once again I have to applaud this site for giving the average fisherman a fantastic resource to discover new places to catch fish.

For some reason after reading the most recent report from Beck I started thinking back to my first trip this year back in early May. That was my first decent largemouth this year and my first ever on a plastic worm and it makes me realize how much fun I have had in the last 3 months. I have caught many fish bigger than this one and have learned a ton in a short period of time. I really don't know how I could have done any of this without WCF and all the members here. Thanks to all who have helped along the way. It's been a great ride so far and I look forward to learning more and catching more and meeting many more members along the way!! :D

Unfortunately not. This was a report from back on May 4th. With all the weed kill at Beck recently I haven't even gone back in the last 2 months or so. I was just reminiscing.

I know.... I was going to say something about the seasonal differences probably making some sort of a difference for my skunk today but I didn't want to bring down your old memories.
