Spent about about 1\2 hour at both St. Charles and Geneva. Didn't bring the waders because it was just more of a casual lunchtime outing with my wife and I knew the water would still be too high.
No luck with the plastics so switched to a crankbait and worked tight to the shore just south of the IL St bridge in St Charles. Was about to give up when the guy pictured hit hard. Couple good flips and a fun catch. Caught one more dink down in Geneva on a crank again right against the wall.
This was Sat morning, around 10am. Did not see any other people fishing in either location, which I thought was very strange for a beautiful Sat morning.
It was very nice to hit the river again after too long of a break due to the weather and schedule.
