Launched the kayak late afternoon onto my fav little pond. While launching, I launched my brand new cell phone right into the pond.
All species had me laboring hard as not much was hitting. The pea-soupedness of this place has increased and along one shore visibility was down to less than an inch. It appears that the thick mat weeds are dying and breaking down into the green and turquoise sludge that is staining the water. The 90 minutes leading up to sunset only produced 4 bass and one bluegill.
I stuck it out, and had a hunch once dark came, they would start to feed using their motion and vibration detectors as sight feeding in those conditions wasn't working in the daylight. The hunch was right and the bass came out of the woodwork big time at the setting of the sun. Picked up another 13 in that first hour of darkyness for a total of 17.
Oh, and I did get my cell phone out of the pond and it still works! When it flipped out into the pond, it was in the nice waterproof Pelican case I bought for it.
