anyone ever catch anything besides bass at axehead? i've been a few times and only caught bass. All of the fish i've seen reported on the site (probably not all of it) have been bass as well. Seems like a steady diet of 10" to 13" bass. Not that I'm complaining about those at all, but just curious if anyone's caught a lot of anything else.

Went there for an evening catch. GOt there around 630pm fished till 8pm nothing not a single fish. I was fishing for large mouth bass. I have never caught a single fish in that lake before. Is there any fish even in the lake? Does anyone know if there is? ANd if so what bait to be used?

I usually fish axe at those times and usually have good luck with one or two bass. normally I use a texas rigged senko and work the shore by the pipes. As far as bait goes I stopped using live bait there since the first time i went because it just gets eaten up by all the blue gill. I would recommend some senkos and sluggos, even some plastic grubs and twistertails. they're in there, they're just finicky sometimes.

fished axehead from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. saturday. no bites. saw a lot of decent bass cruising the shore lines but couldn't get any bites. i walked along the whole lake, tried a lot of spots, talked to several other fisherman- didn't seem like anyone was catching fish.

I fish Gills there and usually catch 10 or 20 on a good day. (50% decent size). Can't wait to get out there and do some hard water fishing this winter.

Key is to get to the 8 to 15 foot depths on the south/southwest side for the bigger gills.

Edit - I should be there tomorrow from 2 till ??? with my 2 nephews and bro in law so feel free to cross our lines with a bass lure and say hello is ya see us. I'll be the one wearing a Bears hat.

rock bass...caught a few lil ones early in the season,crawlers,twister tails.on the shalow north end.
