theres a dam around elgin and south elgin I think and there alot of catfishermen below the dam.

If you're still monitoring this post, lil dude, you can fish the Fox in Elgin. Look up the Slade Ave. boat ramp. You can fish from shore right there, and I caught a 31 lb. flathead last Saturday night, not 100 yds. from that spot. In Dundee, you can fish from shore at the park, and I'm pretty sure that Algonquin has some places, although I haven't been up there much. Go to Wal-mart and pick up a book from Sporting Goods. It has all of the boat ramps, shorefishing, etc...for quite a few northern Illinois Waters. It'll cost you 20 dollars, but you'll use it for years to come, I'm sure. Good luck.
