Anyone doing this tourney this weekend? Thought it might be a hoot. I think since they're not allowing minnows, it might be a Carp tourney. PerchGuy probably would be good at this. Anyway, 5 bones to enter and comraderie amongst urban fisherman. Can't be all that bad. Look below--

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this sunday 11/18 is the last matchfishing event of the summer schedule. it will be held behind northside prep highschool on Bryn Mawr and Kedzie. you can park in the school lot. the draw for pegs (fishing area) will be at 8:30 a.m. sharp. we'll be fishing the north channel of the Chicago River. match will run from 9:30 til' 1:30. most weight from your peg wins, any fish count and must be kept alive for the weigh-in. only one rod/pole per angler may be used at a time. you may bring as many poles as you like but only use one at a time. the BEAR game has been changed to 3:15p.m. so we'll have time to fish and still see the game. be happy to answer any questions you might have. see you sunday! This sounds interesting. Aside from one pole in your hands. Any other rules? Is there an entrance fee?

the fee is $5.00 per person with 100% pay-out. 1st and 2nd are paid and they're determined by number of matchfishers. this is European tournament fishing which is done from shore NOT a boat. it is also known as long pole fishing with a maximum pole length of 13 meters or approx. 42 feet. the only other major rule is that NO form of fish/minnow may be used as bait. you can use any kind of worm/leech/maggot/corn/bread/dough/boilies.

Besides a Fox River and WWD report or two, I have not seen too many reports. Comes with the territory this time of year I suppose. If you are getting out every day Doc, more power to you
I'm lucky if I get out once a week. Last week I got out two times, but so far this week............nothing. :(
I lost my will after getting in that accident. It actually has been over 2 weeks now. I may go to Powerton once but I am probably done until the Lasalle Opener in March.
Yea,

That was the last Fishing Match of The Summer Schedule. They will start a winter league On November 26 I think. I've had success in the match fishing world so far. But Havn't been able to fish the last event (today) It's A Multi-species tournamnet using corn, maggots, waxworms, worms etc. Naturla bait no Live Bait Such as minnows or any small fish attractant mixed into any of your special preperation baits. Most anglers fish eurpean style float fishing with a pole. But Rod a reel fishing has won soem of the events here. School Has really Kept me tied down lately and havn't been able to get out. So Better that indont fall behind.

I am Planning on fishing the winter league.

Perch Guy, it's good to hear from you. We were beginning to wonder what happened to you. Looks like you're busy with school.
