Wanted to get out fishing for a while with goby jr. had some trouble deciding where to go. Local SE Michigan rivers still high, Lots of crowds on Memorial Day weekend, kind of bored of my friends lake.

Then I remembered a stream about 30 minutes away that way be been meaning to try. I figure that maybe it has dropped enough to make it wadable. As a backup there is a decent pond near by.

We arrived to find just what I was hoping for. Water clear, running fast and high but wadable. Loads of carp, panfish, a couple bass.

I'm not ashamed to say that I think sight fishing for carp in a clear stream is about as good as it gets.

Looks like fun! Gotta love exploring and a new spot. What variety of bass?
The creek feeds into a river that has mainly smallmouth but some largemouth, at least where I fish it, the creek feeds into the river above where I have ever fished it. In any case, we caught a couple largemouth today so I guess you never know. There were also lots of gills and some rock bass in the 7-8" range.

Goby: I used to know a guy thru business who lived in Grand Rapids & was a dedicated fly fisherman. He always talked about the Rogue River north of GR. You might want to check it out sometime. Haven't talked with him in years so I'm not worried about giving up his secret.

Great post!! My dad lives in Northeast Indiana and there are multiple creeks that feed off of the main lakes he is on. One day I couldn't find a way to cast from shore bc of the forest around me so i jumped right in the middle of it....Walked a few hundred yards up it to see how deep it was, then trolled a floating repala on the way back. Caught 3 largemouth including my PB in about 10 minutes
