I am looking to purchase new reel for spinner type presentations.

And there are two reels I like and I've been looking at: new Curado "D" series and Revo STX.
As of right now I am more towards Curados just because they have been around much longer, but Revos from what I see / hear are very good reels too.
I am just wondering if anyone used both, and can give me an answer based on the experience.

I have used an older Curado, and a newer Revo. The Revo wins hands down. If it is your first, I would strongly recomend a Revo. I remember the interanly adjusted cetrifugal brake on the Curado being shady. The magnetic style brake on the Revos is much easier to use, in my oppinion.

Although I haven't ever used a Curado, I have a Revo SX and it is a great reel. In my opinion, Shimano baitcasters are over-priced, but that is my opinion. Not to mention the fact that TGE already mentioned, the Revo has a magnetic brake and the Curado a centrifugal brake.

Three things I have never regretted buying and if they ever need to be replaced I'll buy another: Toyota Camry, Timex Ironman and a Shimano Curado.

What TGE said might be true, set up is a little tricky but once you get it right its a work of art. It'll do everything.

$19, never loses a second. Has a chrono when I'm doing the BBQ. I've had it for 5 years and just replaced the battery last week. Didn't wear it for a year and when I pulled it out of my drawer it was spot on to the atomic clock.

I have no complaints.

The Toyota has 125,000 miles. Nothing but brakes and oil changes. I even still have the original muffler after 8 years.

And they wonder why GM, Ford and Mopar are having a hard time. Its not all about building pig SUV's

Toyota Camry

I have seen it everyday, both '89 280k, and a '95 230k and counting.(The '89 jusy went on to its next owner!) And countless others. People dont value the 3000 mile oil change like they used to. Priceless reliability. I love American cars more than oxygen, but a reliable parts getter is also priceless. Personally my parts getter is still american (G.M.), but that's coincidental. There is a to-do list related to that. Even so, nothing beats a 350 and a 4L60E! Woohoo!

I used to be the same way, till I got a Nissan Frontier and found so much more time for fishing. I love Corvettes, Camaros, etc., and any other RWD that made it into the 90's for sure. And anything else before that even more.

Both the Curado D and the STX have identical ratings of 9.0 from Tackle Tour. You won't go wrong either way.

Are you considering the green Curado E? I would think it is better than the D. I don't think there are many that can give you an accurate answer on the STX vs. E comparison since the new green Curados have only been out a month or so.

Personally, I'd play with both of 'em in the store and go with what has the better feel. Good fishing.
