Water color: clear
B. Pressure: 29.72
Fish Caught: 2
09 Fish Count:73
Skunks: 3 from Dec.31,2008-jan.1,2010
Almost as if It played Pleasantly in my hands... Never Have I experienced a True "Country Situation" Where The Water hasn't been touched by man in well over a month... Only True NATURE Taking place. Ducks on the surface feeding on all the algae and other weeds that have been floating down river. Broken up by the Chicago Metropolitan Pontoon boats clearing the river. And Walking up to the spot in close to 12" and in other places almost 2feet of snow!! As i approached the Calm Clear River I stayed low so I didn't Spook any fish. All the Ducks in the Area Instantly Approached me Expecting to be fed, Which means Well in Carp fishing. As The Carp tend to group up in certain areas Where ducks are fed to get "Left over" Bread and crumbs How smart of a fish to adapt. I Broke down my 2 piece Daiwaii firewolf Light 10'6" Pole Spooled with Trilene 8lb XL Line, also attached by a Mustad barel swivel was a 6lb Vanish leader. I tossed out whole kernal sweet corn using a Size 6 Matzou Circle hook. My First time trying those hooks which performed well. My first fish came on a Tap tap.... RUNNN sequence As I watched the Rod I tried predicting Which pull Was the fish inhaling my corn.. I imagined the fish coming from the side First pull The fish turned to it and bumped it.. Second pull.. the fish Inhaled it So i took the tip of my index findger and tightened my line just alittle, Knowing with the circle hook I'd hook him enough to get the fish to run and set the hook on himself... i timed right and man did that fish fight!! I'm primarily a Bass guy.. But You will NOT Find a Fight like a Common carp Anywhere else In Chicago Waters! Especially.. On 6lb Test.
This next fish Gave me a Tap... Then wouldn't touch it I counted to 10.. He tapped it again.. Then nothing.. At 5 He tapped again. SO the next tap.. I Felt the fish Made sure he had it and Whaled into him! My Drag started Screaaaammmming!! this fish took me deep! how deep... ? I almost got spooled I had 100 yrds Of main line And he made me see my bare spool! Now not only deep but he took me across up and Down the River, I was Actually chasing this fish... imagine me running in 12" Of snow down a icey river bank.... chasing a carp.. !! Man and although he wasn't as big as he made me think he was definitely a Big FAT Fish. and a Great fight. I have Ice fishing rods and reels... I did it for two years. But then I realized the Fight in my backyard Here in the city. Why travel to fish.. :?: infant.. them country boys should start booking trips to fish urban waterways. now that's where the TRUE Treasures are.
See you all tomorrow.. Man already Day ...18?? They Say time flies when your having fun
