Fish by Rt120 from 1:15pm-4:50pm; cloudy; periods of rain; breezy; temps about 40.

Tony (#1cubsfan), Alex and myself spent a few hours in the drizzle/rain and did just ok. Alex got the first northern pike in about 10 minutes on a 1/4oz single Colorado blade spinner bait. 19.5"

A while later I tied on a brand new Chatterbait and WHAM... I was on! This was a big fish! But it was quickly realized it was a carp. Tony and I finally netted this beast and it was every bit of 15-20lbs. A clean catch too - she hammered the bait like it was her last meal.

I finally then hooked into a northern that measured 18" on a 1/4 oz chartreuse spinner bait.

Then Tony had some action with 3 big blow ups on a buzz bait. But the fish was elusive and never got hooked.

No bigguns, but a fun time nonetheless!

I'll say... that carp SLAMMED the Chatterbait. I thought for sure it was a northern pike. Tony came over right away and saw the fish roll and thought it was a carp. I only saw it for a second and thought it was a pike. But then after a minute of the fight it did NOT seem like a pike. Another roll and then it was clear it was a carp. So I loosened the drag and decided to have some fun, not caring if I lost it. Well after a few minutes I got it close to shore and we both took shots at netting it but it was bigger that the net! Finally I think Tony got it in the net and we took turn slipping in the mud to haul this thing up. Fun stuff!!

The pike action really turned on at about 4pm. I tossed a spinner bait and saw a northern hit it and miss. Another cast and it bumped it. The next cast and I landed it. Then Alex and a HUGE boil and miss with a buzz bait. Then Tony had his 3 strikes on a buzz bait. Then they were done.

No doubt a very fun time!
