I have been fishing the DPR for the last week or so. I cant seem to come across any sort of fish. I hear that there are northern pike in the river. Is this true? I have been fishing belmont and river rd Toughy and river rd and Irving and river rd and still havent got anything. Usiing small spinners, live worms and a bobber, Tiny crank baits and still nothing. Is there even fish in the DPR river. ANyone please help me on where to go for some good fishing off the river. It is so close and would be great for some nice northern catching if I can find them.

Take a look at the Des Plaines River thread and you will find plenty on the infamous DPR Northern. Dig a bit deeper and you'll find locations. The secret to catching these fish on that river is patience and time. You will need both.

EJ- Try below Toughy Dam with some crankbait's for Northern. The fishing should be decent thru October there.

I think the key is where you are casting. Try and keep it behind the fallen trees and stuff blocking the water flow.
