I never see this mentioned anymore and I don't mean just here but anywhere. Fishing shows, magazines, blogs, YouTube...did I miss the memo? Yeah I know it's an old trick and I'm an old dog and I do have some camo 832 but this trick still works. Did it on Sunday and watched my 30lb braid disappear in the pond I was fishing. Can see in the photo how the lines broken up. I do use flouro leaders on all my spinning gear but when I'm fishing bottom contact baits with baitcasters I'd need to use 20+lb flouro because of rocks and toothy critters. 20lb flouro leader knots always catch in my eyelets, gets very annoying. So it's straight braid.
For you younger guys who weren't around at the dawn of braided lines, when most colors were a bright green or white ...the trick was to take a sharpie and either mark the line about every 6" with a 6" band of either green or black permanent marker or you could take the marker and mark your line on the spool with about an inch band and then repeat all the way around the spool. In the water the broken up divisions of line make it very hard to see.
So seriously if I missed some new trick and you know what it is, please share. Otherwise me and my sharpie have some braid to camouflage for tomorrow
