I figure we might as well have an outing together at Axehead for the opener. We could monopolize some real estate that way. sunrise i think should be around 7am when the gates are opened but i plan on being there around 5:30. anyway, i'll be there on the south end if anybody wants to join me.

See you there at 5:30 haha. What's your set up going to be? ultra light rod, 4lb line, berkley power bait and size 14-16 hooks? I couldn't find any 14-16 hooks at dicks by the glen last sat. You think 12 will do the job?

14-16?! that must be tiny! I didn't even know they made hooks that small. I just picked up some #8 I think Gamakatsu bait holder hooks for worm fishing for trout. I did fine with those last year.
just use the smallest hooks you can get your hands on. the hooks need to be basically small enough to allow the powerbait to float it. yeah, light rigs and 4 lb line.

who's bringing the dunkin donuts?
i'll bring some donuts does anyone know if my powerbait
from the spring will still be good or should i buy some
new jars of it. also which colors were working good for
you augy. :D

ahhh, that's the ultimate secret tony. keke

j/k. all colors work. it's the smell that gets them but i've always had luck with the rainbow. i've tried the glitter stuff last year and didn't produce as much as the original formulas. orange and green have produced as well.
I remember reading somewhere that the lake would open at 5 am. I'll see what my calendar looks like. It is probably going to be a zoo.
Sounds like a good idea, Augy. Count me in.

Good luck guys. Sure will be crazy I'm sure.
if it opens at 5 then i'm there at 4. doc let us know if that will be the case.
Here is what the DNR site says. It also says that it depends upon when the local lake opens. I know that at Axehead you can park on River to get in earlier.

good luck everyone and have fun with the trout fishing ^^
i think i'll give it a shot and see how it goes
What kind of flies to use on the casting bubbles?

Wooly buggers? black nymph? I am not sure what kind to buy?
i used the el cheapo dialpad assortment flies from walmart last year and they worked fine.
I can't wait to get out there. My fingers are crossed about CCFP not screwing up again. I'm seriously tempted to get over there and see if it's been stocked yet...you can usually see them jumping or along the shoreline. When they close it down is it only closed to fishing?
so who is in for saturday
we can target the whole south side im bringing
donuts krispy kream or dunkin
:?
I'm in.
In for sure. Getting there bright 'n early. Will be wearing blue coat and black USMC cap.
I'll be there as well.
4:00a.m. looks like i'll be bringing two dozen
lots of trout to go around i'm loading up on my
powerbait :D
