Been waiting a few weeks for the DuPage to get back down to kayaking levels. Water was still a little high and stained, but current has slowed down.
The day went like this; fast start, slow middle and ended with a bang. On the water about 9:30 and off by Noon. First few casts got me this guy.
The next hour or so, I paddled upstream and drifted slowly down anchoring here and there with a few similar sized fish. Even caught a couple of Rock Bass for the first time this year.
A little slower than usual and I was getting ready to call it a day, but went back to my spot from previous weeks to give it one last try. First cast, another Little Rock Bass. Next cast, about a 2 pounder.
Had to try and bend my spinner to get it straight after the fight with the last one. Got it pretty close and gave another cast near the previous 2 and caught this beauty at about 3 pounds.
All in all ended up another good day on the river with about 10 fish in a little over 2 hours. I don't know what it was, but all the smallies seemed to have bad attitudes and did not want to cooperate by the boat. Had some very nice fights with their moodiness and the current. All fish were caught on spinner bait close to shore, structure and slower water. Hoping to get out more if the weather cooperates.
