Best knot for braid is the palomar. Tie that and then you can keep a small tube of superglue in your pocket and drop a little bit on the knot if you're really worried about it. I've never had a knot failure with the palomar knot, though.

Kinda hard to tie with larger lures.
Palomer seems alot better suited for hooks or smaller baits.
Try the clinch knot too.

bobby you need to change your name from skunkmaster to pike master!
Hahaha. It's weird... I never thought I would ever catch fish consistently like I have the 2nd half of the summer! I have to thank you though, robbie. It was your guidance (and some of tony's research) that has helped me from getting skunked every outing to getting at least 1 fish each outing :D

Now i have had it on spinners for a while now and here is something you may have to do but you may not cause i use 15 test i need the small dia, every hundred casts or so these knots came off the reel, and if you get one donit use a hook hook to get it apart you damage the braid, you need a pick with a round end but what i do now try the line to something walk allthe line out reel it in tight i di it every couple trips

Braid sure is the way to go for the river. Good luck with your new improved setup.
Oldsalt is right on about repacking the line. Someone suggested that to me a few years back. I like to do it behind the boat. With no lure on the line, let it out behind the boat as you are moving. Then when all your line is out straight behind you in the water grab the line with a rag or something in front of the reel, and hold it tight while reeling it back in. Gets all the twists out, and packs it down on the spool really nice.

nice conversation but back to the point there are other knots out there besides the clinch u can use the improved clinch where u go back through the top hole that will work fairly well if ur use to tying the clinch but i perfer the palomar really f'n simple to tie. u'll get better at all the knots
