After nearly 2 long months of recovery, I finally got out for a few hours of fishing on the Illinois River yesterday. Fished late morning to early afternoon from shore, so definitely not optimal conditions, but managed a decent whitebass (15") a few smallish smallmouth (12") and one hybrid striper (21") between three of us. Lost at least 3 more good fish in the current. Most fish came on white/silver spinners or twisters, cast in a slack pool beyond a strong current chute.
Saw one boat on the river, but they didn't seem to be having any luck, and didn't stick around. Plant Smile Goggles Fisherman Fish
