First Fall Fish

Went for pizza yesterday at lunch with a friend from north of the WI/IL border that comes down for our local neighborhood spot. He had fishing on his mind and brought a reel and pole down for me to rig up. It was a bit light for his targeted fall salmon, but I got him fixed up with some new line. All that got me thinking of going down to the lake at dusk for a try myself off the shore.

Made it down to Waukegan harbor about dusk and worked a Kastmaster and then switched to a large Cleo spoon. About 45minutes in I got bumped or raked and figured I would give it another 30 minutes. Changed to a 5/8oz Moonshine in orange/black and bam the fight was on. A few jumps and the screech of line running against the drag made it worth the wait. About 32" of heathy fish in the net and the first fish I ever caught with a lamprey wound. Looked pretty fresh so it may have shook off during all the flopping and shaking while reeling it in.
