The water temperature was 53º this morning. The water level is about the same as last Friday. The water is still moving pretty fast but it is probably wadable for a careful and experienced wader. Water clarity has improved with visibilities in the 10"-12" range.
Extra Large Fatheads are the bait of choice this week for smallies. For walleyes, however, I would go with the Large Lake Shiner. They have more flash than a fathead, and they prefer the colder water. The walleyes are in the faster currents near the dams.
Just a little reminder for all of you trout fans out there, the trout season starts October 21, 2006 at 5 am!!
Good luck out there!
