Early ice is great so the sooner the better but that doesn't mean running onto the ice w/o knowing the conditions and thickness. Always go with atleast one other person

ice is never this enough.. But right now there are many spots on lakes and ponds that were open water in some areas and frozen in others. The ice can be 12 inches in 1 area and 1 inch in another. It matters on the body of water, springs, current, Geese that may keep a spot open as well and much more. your best bet for ice fishing is to go with someone that has some experience so he can teach you the tricks of the trade and the safety that shall always be taken. The internet is a great thing these days Do a search and read up on it. But if you can not find any info. Always ask, As all of us fisherman would be glad to help.
