Just saw the video. Cool, whoever thought wading the Chicago River would be relatively safe. From what I know, during dry weather the North branch and Channel is over 50% discharge from the Howard Plant. But they installed ultraviolet sterilizing/disinfection for the final stage the past couple of years. Deep tunnel and the reservoirs coming online have greatly reduced the Combined Sewer overflows, add in the cleanish water coming in from Wilmette, and the fact that industrial use didn't really make it North of Addison and I'd wade it with much less hesitation than the Fox or DesPlaines.
