I was wondering whether you guys allways go through that rental place or if you know someone with access. Does the rental place allow you to launch your own boats? Like a 12' aluminum with a 5hp. I f so whats the fee on that. It would probly be easlier to just bring my motor and rent one of their boats, though!
Access to the ice would sure be sweet. Can you get on by way of that resort for ice fishing maybe??? Hmmmm.

you cannot launch your own boat. you have to rent or know someone who is a resident. i'm not sure about the ice fishing thing. i don't think you have to pay to ice fish but aris would better answer that question.

You dont haave to pay to ice fish But it helps to park at Jack and Lydias and buy something from them and then hit the ice. If you come out of Jack and Lid lot and go left past the small boat yard the road turns you go past about 10 houses and you will see an entrance down to the water on your left you can drop your gear there and go back to the parking lot to park and then go catch some fish.

I ice fished at Deep Lake about 10 years ago and there was no cost to park and access from Jack and Lidia's. But like Pat says, stop in and get a drink or a pizza or something from them.

The time that I was there all the action seemed to be concentrated in the northeast section of the lake. There were bunches of shanties and even some permanent winter structures. Everyone was fishing for bluegill and a few crappie. Personally, I wouldn't mind setting up some tip-ups and try for some bass or northern.

When we fished the chicagoland derby there 2 weeks ago a local kid came by on a bike pulling a sled with his ice gear on it. He gave us a few spots to try but they were a little far to walk to with 4 to 5" of ice I'll find the map and send you a copy. He sat in the middle of everyone and kept getting ggod size crappie so he does know the lake.

Wow, that would be great! If the ice is thick enough, I'll walk a mile to catch a fish :D.
