If this weather keeps up, how long until you guys think we will be able to get out and do some open water fishing? I'm thinking a week and half to two weeks until all ice is gone.

The warm weather helps, but it all depends upon how much rain we get. If we get a lot of rain, I would guess 10-14 day. If its dry I would have to say longer.

Soon very soon maybe as early as next weekend. I got the boat ready today, tomorrow I run the motor. Cant wait.

I saw the coolest thing today at the river. There was this enormous ice sheet that broke free. It was crashing into all the falldowns making loud crashing/cracking sounds. Huge trees were bending and just as they looked like they were going to bust they bounced back. It took a good 10 minutes for this thing to pass. My buddy said it reminded him of a star destroyer going by.

there's open water on the Illinois in Ottawa... guys were out walleye/sauger fishing....gonna try to put the boat in tomarrow......
