Ice this weekend....ehhhh

I know it's early but I doubt ice will be safe in a lot of places. By all means ice fishing will continue through march but this weekend may have open water on some lakes.

Good luck maybe u will land one of those legendary 5 pound rainbows. They are in there for sure just gotta get em to biteee!
If you fish Deep Quarry stay away from the fish cribs on the west side... Few reasons... Ice looks like swiss cheese... Bluegills have had enough pressure over there this year and are not biting anymore... Some of those holes have really opened up and may swallow you if you aren't careful... Might be better to experiment other spots there and find some fish that haven't been bothered all winter... The game fish may be huddled up in much deeper water, who knows... Dave, you and I discussed this the other day... - BPM
Good luck finding safe ice after today with the heavy rains coming, I was on lake geneva yesterday and it has lost 5 inches of ice in 2 days and also the ice is starting to turn black and the shorelines are starting to go! :(
I'd be careful wandering around on the ice at night. Can't always see exactly what you're walking on.
Maybe I'll take my boat out this weekend! That would be awesome. But I think I'd have to go south. Maybe a late winter Crappie bite at Kentucky Lake?
Looks like I will be chasing Steelheads earlier than I thought.

BPM, Yes we did... This rain is not going to help. I am going out for a few hours for some walleyes tonite. We picked up a couple eyes the other day on the west side... I guess its time to fish the east side. If you are heading out tonite, let me know.

Dave

I think a Plank of wood will be needed to get on the ice from the pier :x
The ice is going....................................................................................... :D Open water fishing is closer than we thought.
I will be walking the plank on Geneva for sure! There still alot of gillzillas and monster crappies to be had!
But my life an't worth a few panfish my friend. Over the weekend there were over a 100 fish caught browns/steelies open water in teh WI Harbors. The steelhead should really start to push up the rivers now as flow should pick up. Hoping by this weekend the rivers in WI have open up. Mplant you ready for this weekend dude. :D
Just about. Couple of small things to gather up, and it will be a trout pounding...
Oh the flows are picking up all right by this weekend you might be able to do some whitewater rafting down the root and every other river in the area and as far as harbor fishing can you say chocolate milk!
