I think that there should be tighter restrictions on the Fox. I also feel that with out enforcement the rules don't mean shinola. So until Illinois steers more money towards the pockets of the DNR and away from the pockets of the politicians we will suffer due to the extreme shortage of CPO's. Truly unfortunate. It's a theory but wouldn't the monies brought in by ticket writing and fines be more then enough to support the DNR? I have a feeling that there are enough poachers out there to fund the DNR or at least the CPO paychecks.

Here is a pic from the Fox yesterday. I can't help but get pissed off when I see this. A guy with a cast net. I know that he may be gathering, legally, bait fish but the cynical part of me says he is raping the waterway. Why does that thought cross my mind? Does it cross yours? Dude, buy a dozen minnows already. It's times like these that I wish I had whatever certification necessary to be a CPO.....

Sorry if I've lumped all seiners in the same negative consideration but I can't help but getting that feeling of remorse each time I see someone out there doing it. I've seen my fair share of illegal stringers, buckets and those that hi tail it out of there just by me pulling out my cell phone. I can't say that my feelings have no validity but perhaps I should treat each case individually.

Special Ed I'm not looking to get areas closed off from fishing. Geez man I voiced my opinion about fishing regs on the river in an open forum and all of a sudden I'm drawing up blueprints for the demise of the ethical fisherman. And I'm the one blowing things out of proportion.
