Last two visits netted maybe 50 fish with many more lost. First visit found fish in summer areas but schooled up and chasing a Mini Max chatterwagon, yesterday saw them schooled up in deeper areas (driven there by colder water??) and super competitive, often hitting baits as soon as they hit the water. Moving baits and bottom baits worked.

Not always. IIRC a few years ago it started raining early in the fall, the river got flooded and much of the fall fishing season was completely lost.

PS. That was 2019, and '17 and '18 also had some pretty high fall water levels at times. Since then it's been more or less like now.

Historically (1800s) it ran dry by the end of the summer. That's why all the check dams were put in - to enhance recreational possibilities. But with all the development, paved surfaces, etc. rain flows into the river instead of sinking into the ground. That's why they've removed the dams.

So in the long run, it's not running as low as it used to.
