Can anyone give me some tips on cat fishing at Kankakee river state park or any lures or spots to go to in that area

Try drifting a variety of baits (night crawlers, chicken livers, shrimp) under a bobber. Put a split shot on the line a few inches above the hook. Let it run down-river through current seams. Fun way to fish. They hit hard and your bobber disappears quick, so keep an eye on it. You can do the same thing without a bobber but will probably get snagged up more often.
