Dude you're gonna catch a big shark!
Haha, yea and he's gonna have to pull my fat butt around like a sled dog until he tires out!

OR....

I'll scream like a girl and cut my line! lol ....either way!

Just don't let them drag you out into the current.

Didn't do too much diggin but found this
"I go to Cayman Brac every year. Since your fishing from shore my recommendation would be to take a collapsable surf rod with braid and many Yozuri lures. Yellow & nblue colors work well. They match yellow tail and blue runners. Sling them out there and catch big barricuda, and occasionaly snaper or grouper. They will wrap around the coral heads so you want to get them in fast. If you fly fish try for bones, permit and tarpon. I have broken off 3 100 lb tarpon. If you don't fly then try subbic rigs and shrimp for the bones. Wear some good solid shoes for wading and walking on the iron shore. I have alot of fun fishing from the shore in between dives. Good Luck. Any other questions email me "

I personally like red head, white body jerk and top water baits, beef up your hooks on any fresh water gear. O and as true in any body of water a jig and twister/paddle tail will catch everything that swims. Red jig head gold, white, silver plastic. Those DOA shrimp or gulp shrimp in new penny work okay as well.

I personally

That is too cool. Looks like in one photo he is trying to troll an Iland lure with a fresh dead ballyhoo or some type of bait fish. That's got to be a work out. I'm so jealous you get to do this. Good luck and hopefully you'll have a lot of photos to share.

I read this as I was shopping. I picked up a bunch or jigs and shrimp like baits. I'm keeping it all artificial probably.

The cayman brac is about 1.5 hour boat ride from where I'll be. Lots of fly fishing there for bonefish and I think tarpon.
There's quite a few angler shops there so I've had my mom doing recon for me lol. She used to be big into fishing.

I think one day her n I or who ever comes with me are gonna charter a boat for deep sea action. Other than that I'm gonna yak around the reefs and so forth.

I'll def take lots of pics. I still have to set up a good stainless steel innards reel for out there.

As long as people are respectful for my parents sake they let me bring anyone I want. There are two extra bedrooms. My parents only ask that ppl pick up their own plane tickets everything else is coming.

I'm trying to get Emcho to come down with me this year.

The family is coming back for tax season and the. Going back in June- dec 2012.

I've used my Curados for Reds and Trout and just gave them a thorough rinse, when you think done rinse some more and my reels were fine. Obviously they won't hold up to a 100 lb tarpon but the small ones you should be fine. Mucho Jealous! I head down in spring and can't wait to hit the salt. The only fish that compares might be Kings.

Freshwater fish don't compare to salt. a 5lb red snapper makes our fish look sad.

Woz does your family live at the island?

I think I forgot to post our pictures from Florida.
Part of the year they live there, part of the year they vacation. And for 12 weeks my dad comes back and works in our office.

I tried plastics, fake shrimp etc. Get some live shrimp, trust me. Hook them in the tail and let em swim. Anything will take it, anything.

Cut bait for shark. They'll take it, run, just let the drag go, it'll stop and on the 2nd run set the hook. It means that they are eating.

I have seen a small hammerhead take live shrimp. Fun fight. Pick up a water proof camera or go pro system.

Lucky. Once you fish salt water every thing else is puddles and minnows.

I'll be taking my spinning set ups. One 9ft heavy Cabellas creek tourney, an 8ft ugly stick heavy (catfish rod:) and my 9foot fly rod. All reels have atleast 300yards capacity with 30# power pro. You think any of them can handle a shark? Also what should I do leader wise with my braid?

Just curious, what fly fly rod did you go with?
I went with the prestige. 200 yards of backing. Needs a new tippet other than that it's in awesome shape. Took it in the yard today and practiced. It's awesome. Def taking it down to the island with me

Honestly most of the salt guys I have seen use spinning gear or fly gear.

As far as flies - I don't know what is in the area, but fish will eat surface flies. Tarpon for instance love surface flies.

For shark. Spinning is iffy. You want thicker line. 50-80 lbs and 500 yards on a large open bait caster.. Unless you go for smaller fish. You need steel leaders as well. Braid is fine.

30 is probably max I would go for anything else. you should be OK. Oh yeah, everything has teeth, spikes or spurs, don't lip them. No need for a leader. Mono might help.

If a large fish gets on hold the rod to the side, not vertical, let the pole do the work. If you freak out, get pulled, etc just cut the line.

Considering beaching the yak to casting or use a beach rod holder. Fish points, bowls, bars and troughs those are the main structures on a beach. Cast horizontal into the 1st 2nd large trough. Fish high tide, and expect anything.
